Jeffery D. LaPlume, O.D. is a board-certified optometric physician practicing locally for 30 years. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and pre-medical studies at University of South Florida in Tampa in 1987 and did his graduate studies at the University of Houston College of Optometry where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1992.
Prior to joining the Eye Institute of West Florida Dr. LaPlume founded and served as clinic director of EyeCare Associates of Largo where he practiced comprehensive eye and vision care from 1995 to 2017.
His training and experience has allowed him to diagnose and manage ocular diseases and conditions including dry eyes, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, keratoconus, cataracts and urgent conditions like foreign bodies, abrasions and conjunctivitis. Dr. LaPlume also has special interest in treating conditions that require specialty contact lenses.
He is currently accepting new patients at our Primary EyeCare Clinic at the Largo campus.
