CLINICAL TRIAL in Tampa Bay to Reduce or Eliminate Need for Reading Glasses: Raindrop Near Vision Inlay

Have you had cataract surgery? Do you still rely on reading glasses to see closeup? Would you like to reduce or eliminate your dependence on those reading glasses? If you are nodding yes right now, The Eye Institute of West Florida might have the solution to your constant battle of “on, off, on, off” – the Raindrop Near Vision Inlay.

If already had cataract surgery but still rely on reading glasses to see things up close, you may be a candidate for a new clinical study currently offered with Dr. Robert Weinstock at The Eye Institute of West Florida. The clinical study involves implanting the recently FDA approved Raindrop® Near Vision Inlay, a small, clear implant that is designed to change the shape of your cornea to improve your near and intermediate vision for things such as reading a book and working on the computer.

Raindrop Near Vision Inlay benefits
Raindrop is made of a soft, biocompatible material similar to a soft contact lens, which has similar properties and water content as the cornea. It gently changes the shape of the clear front part of the eye, the cornea. It improves near vision while slightly affecting distance vision in the treated eye.

Raindrop is:
• Transparent, so no one will realize there is a Raindrop in your eye
• Well suited for dim light situations as 99.7% of the light passes through the Raindrop and reaches the back of the eye where the image is processed
• Approximately 80 percent water, Raindrop resembles a tiny water droplet
• Bioengineered to facilitate the transport of nutrients and fluid to the eye
• Incredibly small – less than half the thickness of a human hair and about the size of a pinhead.

A qualifying patient is someone who has not had previous ocular surgeries aside from cataract surgery, has good, stable distance vision and does not have any other eye diseases, such as glaucoma or macular degeneration. Qualifying candidates will receive all care, at no cost!
